Tutorial for Emphasis 012 – Fireworks

Using the Fireworks

These fireworks are brilliant. They're like a party on your slide when animated with zooms and fades. Be sure to download the animated example to see how it works.

Use them when you have something spectacular to announce.

Customizing the Fireworks

Sizing

If you need to resize, hold the shift key down and resize so that the fireworks are scaled and do not skew.

Color

Notice that the backgrounds for the fireworks are transparent? Look at the series example to see how the fireworks "float" over the template background. This is a nice feature. As with real fireworks, they need to have a dark background: very dark blue or black seemed to look the best. Have fun using them.

As with all PNGs, the colors can be changed in PowerPoint 2007. There is really nothing to be gained by doing so, however. The fireworks look much more realistic when left as is.

3D variations

Don't use 3D.

Shadows

Don't use shadows.

Gradients, patterns, and pictures

These effects are not available with the fireworks.

Animations

They are great individual fireworks that can be used in rapid succession or massed together for a "grand finale" burst. The downloadable animation example uses a zoom entrance and a fade exit. This combination creates an effect that is fairly close to the real thing.
