Chart of the Month – June 2013 – Highlighting Spikes

Sometimes a simple chart with a big message can be dressed up to make a greater impression. This month's Chart of the Month is an example of such a chart. The spike is a big-deal event for "OurCo." but the screenshot of a line chart showing the spike is not that visually pleasing. Simply adding a photograph or graphic image to signify the spike can make all the difference.

This is a very simple idea, but most people don't think of adding images to data-driven charts. Keep this idea in mind the next time you need to present an event spike on a data-driven chart. It will help make the event more memorable and impactful.
