Tutorial for Segments 004 – Segmented Wheel with Hub and Halo

Using Wheels With Halos

These frameworks show pieces of a whole when the representation need not be data driven. The halo outside the sliced pie shows external force, influence, or result; and the center can be used as a hub or a descriptor for the pie.

Customizing the Wheels

Adjust size

If you want to change the size/shape of the PowerFramework, be sure to group it and resize the entire group. Once resized, ungroup to proceed with other customizations.

Color variations

Select color from your document's color palette or a complimentary color so that the PowerFramework will reflect the color scheme of the rest of your document. Do not eliminate the lines unless the pieces are different colors. The halo actually has a gradient applied that corresponds with the colors of the spokes.

3D variations

3D doesn't work with these frameworks.

Shadows

Shadows don't work with these frameworks.

Gradients, patterns, and pictures

Gradients can be used to create a distinction between the pieces. The lines can then be eliminated. Pictures can be used as a fill. Just be sure that the dimensions of the picture are roughly the dimension of the piece that will contain it.

Animations

Animations should be selected that will enhance the meaning of the message, not merely to add interest to the slide. Simple reveals are best with this type of framework.
