Why don't the labels and totals in the bar charts and column charts match up after I enter my data?

There are two reasons why they don't match up

  1. The labels in bar charts and column charts are not part of the worksheet for the chart, they are text fields to be placed next to the bar or column. The reason for building the templates in this manner is that you have much more control of these fields. It is difficult to impose line breaks, alignments, spacing, etc., when the labels are part of the worksheet. To get the best presentation of material, you need to work outside the worksheet in some cases.

  2. The totals in segmented bars and columns are not possible within the worksheet or as part of the graphing program. They need to be calculated and placed manually.

This is easy to fix

  1. If you need fewer labels and totals than what is provided in the template, simply delete those not needed and redistribute and realign on the bars/columns
  2. If you need more labels and totals than what is provided in the template, simply copy and past more, redistribute, and realign on the bars/columns
