Placing legends on your slides

We typically advocate against the use of legends but, in some instances, it is the preferred method of delivering a layer of information or interpretation. The first priority is to place all necessary descriptive information within/next to the chart rather than in a legend. When it is more appropriate to use a legend, however, refrain from using the legend generated within Microsoft Graph. It takes up too much of the prime real estate on a slide. Also, the legends size and placement cannot be controlled enough. Instead, opt for placing legends (such as those in TO009) in a static position on your slides. This promotes consistency and continuity within the presentation, which is a kindness to your audience.
