Tutorial for
Forces 007, 046
Loops and Loop Backs
Using Forces 007 and 046
These frameworks can be used for a few different purposes: a flow around a milestone, photograph, pivot point. They are not 3D although they can be shaded to appear as if they are a 3D, ribbon-type flow. They are placed in the forces category because of the pivot point.
The series FR046 provides frameworks to help you visually display a forward flow with a backward flow option. This is particularly useful when a project status is provided to previous owner, approvals are needed, comparisons are required, and checkpoints exist. This is a unique graphic and very aptly helps convey a sometimes tricky visual concept.
There are two versions in both these loop series. The thicker version is for use when there is a lot of associated text or a lengthy label for the loop. You can also use it if there is no associated text, but there is a lot of other content on the slide. The thinner version provides more space for words within the loop. Choose the best version for your needs.
Customizing the Loops
Adjust size
If you want to change the size/shape of the PowerFramework, be sure to group it and resize the entire group. Once resized, ungroup to proceed with other customizations.
Color variations
Select color from your document's color palette or a complimentary color for the fill so that the PowerFramework will reflect the color scheme of the rest of your document. This is one of the few frameworks that really does work best when an outline color is applied. Select a darker hue of the fill color or a gray. Try not to use too much of a contrasting color for the line. You want it to be just enough contrast to provide a distinction.
3D variations
3D works well with these frameworks if the depth is very small. Also be sure that the ordering/layering of the pieces of framework are correct for the direction of the 3D effect.
Shadows
Shadows work with these frameworks as along as they are close to the segments.
Gradients, patterns, and pictures
Use gradients and patterns sparingly. You don't want a great deal of variance from the main color, only a bit to show some "depth."
Animations
Animate these frameworks as a reveal. There is no way to animate the frameworks to run along their courses.
