Tutorial for Concept 054 – Stylized Chains

These chains are stylized. The concepts that benefit from chain graphics are: linked, solid connection, locked, restrained, withheld, detained. The CN017 series is hand drawn to look realistic.

Customizing the chains

Adjust size

Both versions of these chains can be shortened or lengthened, making them versatile and easy to use in any slide requiring chains.

If you want to adjust the size of the whole chain, not just adding or subtracting links, you can select the whole chain and group it. Then rescale it by holding the shift-key down as you resize.

Color variations

The individual links in the chain can be color filled, as well. You can add many layers of information through the use of color. Choose colors from your template's color palette to make sure that these stylized chains blend in with the other content in your presentation.

3D variations

Don't use 3D. These are stylized chains and they're not supposed to look tremendously realistic.

Drop shadows are fine (except in PowerPoint 2003), as they "lift" the chain off of the slide.

Gradients, patterns, and pictures

No, not necessary.

Animate the whole chain to wipe or appear. Since the links are not whole, do not add individual links through animation.
