Incremented Boxes on Axes
These boxes can help you illustrate ranges or segments within an area on two axes. All that is needed is to identify the X and Y axes and label each box section. The download contains all of the frameworks in this series. Also see the series TO030, which uses arcs instead of squares.
These can be placed under (layered behind) a scatter chart, for example, to create bands of ranges or descriptions. See the tutorial for more uses and formatting tips.
Customizing the frameworks
Group the boxes and axes and then size as one object. Hold the shift key down if you wish to rescale instead of resize.
The boxes need to be different colors. You can use completely different colors for each box, or you can use hues of the same color as we've done in the download.
Don't use 3D.
Don't use shadows.
Gradients, patterns, and pictures
Don't use these formatting options.
Simple reveals are best with these frameworks.
